Trade catalogs and salesmen's sample books, ca.1865-ca.1910.

The collection includes trade catalogs and sample books for bicycles, calendars, calling cards, Christmas decorations and other Christmas items, clothing, corsets, decals, fretwork items, gifts, glassware, greeting cards (Christmas and Valentines), guns, hats, horse blankets, household linens, lace, phonograph players, assorted printed items (especially lithographs), scrap, seeds and fruit trees, shoes, silver-plated wares, sleds, stationery, Sunday School supplies, toys and games, and typewriters. A Montgomery Ward catalog from 1897 shows what a large mail-order store supplied at the end of the 19th century. Two lace catalogs include actual samples, not just pictures of the lace. There are several folders with samples of calling cards. Some of the catalogs merely list what was offered for sale and do not include pictures.
